Future Adaptive with Water Veins
This project addresses the liveability in small historic Dutch towns that have an aging and declining population. Mobile floating facilities (e.g. a post office, bank, elderly care, shops and restaurants) can moor in the historic harbors next to the marketplace.
The project was awarded the ‘Zuid-Holland Price’ 2010, one of the largest open competitions in the Netherlands. It was praised for its historical reference of old harbor usage, which eventually also added to the cultural preservation. Bart van Bueren worked with Dries Schuwer on this project.
