Floating City Ymeer

The concept drawings of the 2006 Floating City Ymeer are one of the first visions of how a floating city could look like. Bart van Bueren envisioned dome-like structures of apartments and an inner courtyard. These iconic dome shapes were later also used for Bart’s design of the Rotterdam floating pavilion. This floating city design, along with a paper was awarded the first prize at the Royal HaskoningDHV Deltacompetition.

Organizations as TUDelft, Drift and Urgenda used this project for promotion of delta-engineering and a climate transition in the Netherlands. The future vision was presentend globally in various media, including the WorldExpo 2010 in Shanghai.
