Prefabricated foamed-concrete blocks can float and provide a stable bike path. The paths give access to wetlands and peat lands. Protected reservoirs become accessible, while preventing visitors to go offtrack. The concrete blocks become breeding ground for aquatic flora and fauna such as shells and algae. As mono-material concrete, with air bubbles, it’s low-cost in production and easily to recycle. This foamed-concrete is half the weight of water and therefor floats with a low centre point of gravity which is required for stability for a road. Waterarchitect received an honourable nomination from ‘in de kiem gescoord’ for this proposal.
