DUTCH DESIGN POST RESIDENCE RENOVATION
The Dutch Design Post in Taiwan is at the 321 Artist village (321巷 藝術聚落) in Tainan. This is a picturesque community from the Japanese colonial period repurposed into a cultural district. The old buildings needed to be redesigned and renovated into a designer residency, co-workspace and expo venue. The historical monumental status and Western standards for the accommodation made this a design challenge.
The Dutch Design Post was opened with great festivity by the mayor of Tainan William Lai (賴清德), the Dutch de facto ambassador Hans Fortuin, NCKU president Jenny Su (蘇慧貞) and Bart van Bueren.
Monthly events were organized at the Dutch Design Post.
