Balance Island Vietnam
Balance Island is building-with-nature tool for delta design. Benefits can be to reduce salinity intrusion into rivers, restoring ecology, and coastal protection. The consortium of Waterarchitect, Grontmij, Imares and Deltares explored feasibility of Balance Island for Bangladesh and Vietnam.
The feasibility included river delta modelling and stakeholder discussions. This industry-led research grant was commissioned by the Dutch RVO Partners for Water. This study followed from the awards winning plan of Balance Island for the Dutch Haringvliet.
